Wikus van der Merwe is a mild-mannered manager at MNU Department of Alien Affairs. He was the field operative in charge of relocating the Prawn residents to their new home District 10.
When Wikus was exposed to an alien fluid, it caused his DNA to rapidly fuse with Prawn DNA. It grants him the ability to operate alien machinery and weaponry.
